Well ITV have stooped to new lows and Gerry springer will shortly be filming a series over here. Yesterdyay I saw an advert ... "are you having problems in your relationship and would like to confront your partner on the Gerry Springer show? well dial this number!". so I ask myself, why do people do it! what is it that makes people lower themselves to airing their problems on national television! I mean admittedly Gerry springer does attract some of the less believeable, or perhaps less educated members of society, but there are such shows as trishia, (she's like the english alternative of gerry springer but actually does try to help rather than put people up against each other to battle it out for the benefit of the cameras), mauri ... whatever his name was .. he appears genuine enough ... so would any of you go on one of these shows?

Well it's good entertainment but I think these people are pretty sad if they need TV shows to sort out their lives. It's great fun watching them and Jerry Springer is one of the best chatshow hosts in history. His name will not be forgotten for ages.

they are insecure attention seekers, with little or no self respect, so they don't bcare how they come across..of course as JS is faked this probably will be...

I'm told people get paid to come on these shows, so perhaps the prospect of getting an extra five hundred dollars to air their dirty laundry is attractive. Sorry, not that desperate, plus there isn't any drama in my life worht putting on the TV.

well I think you'd have to pay me a hell of a lot of money ... although I'd imagine that for the right amount of cash, some people could invent a crisis in their lives.

You could always make it up. I don't care if the guests are fake or real, as long as they provide good entertainment.

the only time ide go on a show like that, is if they had a show where they were making peoples dreams come true. other than that, its not for me.

All I can say it's nothing but pure, unadulterated garbage, even if it's ment to be entertainment, who on god's green earth needs to air their dirty londry for all to see! and who the hell fucking cares anyway!

If they were paid, it would make sense to me, since the guests generally seem to be from a low socio-economic group. It would also give them more incentive to get into the Gerry-esque behaviour, throwing the chair, screaming abuse... I've never actually seen one all the way through, but does anyone ever actually resolve their issues? That would seem to negate the whole point imho.

And see, Wangel, that's it. The show is about entertainment, not serious issues. If watching other people's drama is entertaining, cool. If not, there are other channels to go to or just put a fave disc in the DVD player and not bother with broadcast TV.
